Sheikh Sultan Bin Ahmed witnesses the launch of new Sharjah identity

Sheikh Sultan Bin Ahmed reviews an installation during the Sharjah’s new identity ceremony on Noor Island.

The Emirate of Sharjah launched its new identity, which embodies all of its visual and cultural features and its distinctive cultural and artistic heritage, in the presence of Sheikh Sultan Bin Ahmed Bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah and Chairman of Sharjah Media Council.

The new identity was launched at a ceremony on Al Noor Island.

Sheikh Sultan Bin Ahmed said, “The new identity reflects the wise vision of His Highness Dr. Sheikh Sultan Bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, which has established Sharjah as a leading emirate with a global standing thanks to its strengths in various sectors.”

Sheikh Sultan explained that the launch of the new identity is a manifestation of the emirate's spirit and its potential to expand further in all fields, as well as provide top-notch services and incentives that drive the ongoing growth of Sharjah.

He noted that the new identity was developed with Sharjah's strengths and distinctive features in mind, in addition to its allure as a hub for tourism, living, work, study, and investment.

Sheikh Sultan toured Al Noor Island, where he viewed the exhibition pavilions, which spotlight the meanings and connotations of the new Sharjah identity through artistic performances.

Sheikh Sultan Bin Ahmed is being briefed about the artistic display.

Sheikh Sultan Bin Ahmed pointed out that the new identity was developed in accordance with identifying the points and features of Sharjah’s strength and distinction and its attractiveness for tourism, living, work, study and investment, and represents an open invitation to the world to explore the extent of the richness and diversity that Sharjah possesses, and the enormous opportunities and potential it abounds in.

It also provides a wide range of promising opportunities in various ways, Cultural, educational, economic, social and entertainment sectors.

The Deputy Ruler of Sharjah toured Al Noor Island, looking at the display stations that express, through their artistic performances, the connotations and meanings of Sharjah’s new identity, which was derived from Sharjah’s rich history and what distinguishes it in its artistic, architectural, cultural and other fields, and its movement towards the future with a proactive thought based on science, knowledge and technology.

The new identity emphasizes Sharjah's core strengths, represented in the cultural, entertainment and economic components that are unique to the emirate, and through which it seeks to consolidate its position as a major destination for living, tourism and investment through a range of diverse initiatives and experiences.

Sharjah is known for its rich heritage of cultural, heritage and historical achievements and manifestations, and its urban development, in addition to its important contribution to enriching the fields of industry and environmental sustainability in the United Arab Emirates.

Sharjah has been crowned with many titles and has won many global achievements, including the title of World Book Capital for the year 2019 by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO). The emirate also hosts many museums, art galleries and cultural centers that embody the authenticity, history, arts and traditions of the region.

The emirate is witnessing growth in all its sectors and fields, as the GDP growth rate increased by 5.2% in 2022 to reach about Dhs136.9 billion.

In 2023, Sharjah International Airport received more than 15 million tourists from more than 100 destinations, consolidating the emirate’s tourism and investment position as a major gateway to the region and beyond.
