Mohammed Bin Rashid Space Centre (MBRSC) team, led by Salem Humaid Al Marri, Director General, held several meetings with NASA officials this week to begin the collaboration on the Gateway Lunar Space Station.

MBRSC is developing the Emirates Airlock, the airlock aboard the first of its kind station in history.

“This week, we started the work on the Gateway Lunar Space Station after our leadership announced the UAE's participation in the project,” said Al Marri on X.

“We had several meetings with the Gateway team at NASA’s Johnson Space Center to coordinate the efforts, and our team at MBRSC is starting to work on the #EmiratesAirlock, which will used in the first lunar station in history,” Al Marri said further.

“We are still in the beginning of the journey, but with the dedication of the MBRSC team and our collaboration with @NASA, I’m sure we will achieve our ambitious goals,” concluded Al Marri.

Astronauts Dr Sultan Al Neyadi, Hazzaa Al Mansoori, Mohammad Al Mulla, and Nora Al Matrooshi also toured the mockup of HALO, the first built module of the Gateway Lunar Space Station, in the presence of Al Marri.

“Standing in the Gateway Lunar Space Station’s mockup felt like stepping into the future. I visited the HALO module, the station’s 1st mockup, which includes crew headquarters, as well as environmental & communications systems. Proud of the UAE's participation in this project,” wrote Neyadi on X.

“Every corner here is filled with ambition. Along with my colleagues, I visited the mockup of the Habitation and Logistics Outpost (HALO) for the Gateway Lunar Space Station. This station is set to host an Emirati astronaut in the coming years. The future indeed looks exciting!” said Hazzaa Al Mansoori.
