Speed reduced to 80 km/h on four roads in Abu Dhabi due to dense fog

Some coastal and inland areas across the country witnessed fog and intermittent fog that continued for 6 hours from 3:30am till 9:30am on Tuesday.

The Abu Dhabi Police also called on motorists to be cautious due to the lower horizontal visibility during the fog and to abide by the varying speed limit as shown on the electronic traffic signs.

The fog began to form on Ghayathi, Al Ruwais Road and Bada Dafas in Al Dhafra Region, while intermittent fog formed on Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Highway heading to Al Mirfa, Jebel Dhanna, Razeen and Arjan in Abu Dhabi.

The lowest temperature of 7.1 degrees Celsius was recorded in Rakna in Al Ain City at 7:15am, while the second lowest temperature of 8.1 degrees Celsius was recorded in Damtha at 7:00am UAE local time.

The National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) called on road users and motorists to take caution and follow traffic instructions during the fog when the horizontal visibility is at its lowest at times in some inland and coastal areas.

Accordingly, the speed limit was reduced to 80 km/h on four roads in the emirate, these being Beda Al Mutawaa Road (Ghayathi-Beda Al Mutawaa), Umm Al Hisn Road (Ghayathi-Umm Al Hisn), Sheikh Khalifa Highway (Al Mirfa-Al Suqour Reserve) and Sheikh Khalifa Highway (Jebel Dhanna Bridge-Umm Al Ashtan Bridge).

Meanwhile, Wednesday’s weather is expected to be clear to partly cloudy in general but humid at night and on Thursday morning in some inland and coastal areas with a chance of fog or light fog, according to the NCM.

Light to moderate northeasterly to northwesterly winds will blow, turning to active at times during the day at 10 to 20 and up to 30 km/h, while the sea will have regular waves in the Arabian Gulf and the Sea of Oman.

Thursday’s weather will be clear to partly cloudy in general but humid at night and on Friday morning in some inland and coastal areas with a chance of light fog,

Light to moderate southeasterly to northeasterly winds will blow, while the sea will have regular waves in the Arabian Gulf and the Sea of Oman.

The weather on Friday and Saturday will be clear to partly cloudy in general but humid at night in some inland and coastal areas with a chance of light fog.
