A groundbreaking surgery was successfully performed on a 66-year-old patient at Al Qassimi Hospital's Cardiology Centre.

The patient, who presented with critical narrowing and imminent myocardial infarction (heart attack), underwent a novel procedure utilising the latest Japanese coronary stents, "Nagomi."

This marks the first utilisation of these stents in the Middle East, facilitated by the innovative Makoto Intravascular Imaging System.

Dr Essam Al Zarooni, Acting Executive Director of the Medical Services Sector at the Emirates National Health Services, commended Al Qassimi Hospital's remarkable transformation into a leading medical institution on both the local and international stage.

He attributed this success to the hospital's consistent dedication to achieving medical excellence and cultivating exceptional expertise.

Dr Al Zurawani further emphasised the Corporation's unwavering commitment to enhancing the quality of life and fostering sustainable healthcare practices by equipping its facilities with the most advanced medical technologies available.
