Abu Dhabi Police activate smart radar system at road forks to catch traffic violators

A smart radar system “EXIT I” is placed at a fork road in Abu Dhabi.

The Abu Dhabi Police have started activating “EXIT I”, an automatic radar system at the crossroads in the emirate. The solar powered system comes the police’s priorities and strategic objectives aimed at maintaining safety of road users and prevent traffic accidents.

The GHQ of Abu Dhabi Police explained that the new radar systems “EXIT-I” is designated to monitor and control violating drivers who overtake others at forks, causing obstruction of traffic and deliberately entering in front of other vehicles at the entrances.

Basically, these systems aim at alerting drivers of the importance of adhering to traffic rules, giving priority to vehicles and entering from authorized places, in order to keep their safety and the safety of others, as well as preventing traffic accidents that cause loss of life and property, the police added.

They also stated that the cameras installed on the roads are not intended to harvest violations, but to enhance traffic safety for road users.
