Mohammed names Fadil Adib winner of Great Arab Minds Award-2023 in engineering and technology

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, on Thursday announced winner of the Great Arab Minds Award-2023 in engineering and technology.

The winner is Professor Fadil Adib, Associate Professor at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).

On X platform, Sheikh Mohammed said, “The Great Arab Minds initiative aims to enhance the confidence of Arab individual in his/her capabilities, and to introduce generations to honorable role models.”

He added, “Today, we have an honorable model for an Arab young man. Today we announce the winner of the Great Arab Minds Award in the field of engineering and technology, Professor Fadil Adib, Associate Professor at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).”

Sheikh Mohammed continued, “He has published more than 80 research papers and patents in the fields of engineering and technology, and has outstanding contributions to the field of wireless sensing technology, leading to advancements in various areas, including through wall-vision and sensing, enabling the detection of objects and vibrations behind walls, under rubble and numerous other applications.”

The Great Arab Minds Award in Engineering and Technology for the year 2023 is presented to Professor Fadel Adib in recognition of his exceptional contributions to the fields of wireless technology and wireless sensing.

His pioneering research and inventions have significantly expanded the possibilities of wireless sensing technology, leading to advancements in various areas, including through wall-vision and sensing, enabling the detection of objects and vibrations behind walls, under rubble and numerous other applications.

In addition to his accomplishments in engineering and technology, Professor Fadel Adib has made substantial contributions to the field of ocean exploration, advancing deep-sea exploration by developing battery-free devices that harness energy from ocean waves.
