Sheikh Sultan receives Emirati astronauts Al Neyadi and Al Mansoori in Sharjah

His Highness Dr Sheikh Sultan Bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, in the presence of Sheikh Sultan Bin Ahmed Bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah and President of the University of Sharjah, received on Thursday, Astronauts Sultan Al Neyadi, Hazzaa Al Mansoori and UAE Mission 2 team, at the Sharjah Academy of Astronomy, Space sciences and Technology (SAASST).

The meeting covered the team's recent successful mission to the International Space Station, which enhanced the UAE's reputation, as well as the significant advancements in space science and astronomy programmes.

Dr Sheikh Sultan listened to a detailed explanation from Sultan Al Neyadi and Hazzaa Al Mansoori, about the longest space mission in Arab history, which Al Neyadi underwent and extended to 6 months aboard the International Space Station, and the scientific experiments he participated.

Sheikh Sultan commended the team's work during the astronaut Al Neyadi 's most recent mission, highlighting UAE’s interest in space science and international scientific missions. He also underscored the country's efforts to support youth to advance in all scientific and research fields.

His Highness received from astronaut Sultan Al Neyadi the flag of the UAE, which accompanied him during his mission aboard the International Space Station, calling on the scientific team to continue their efforts in order to achieve more scientific achievements that distinguish youth of the UAE.

At the end of the meeting, Sultan Al Neyadi and Hazzaa Al Mansoori extended their thanks and appreciation to His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah for receiving them, appreciating the great support and unlimited interest in the Emirate of Sharjah in education and scientific research in general, and space and astronomy science in particular, which made Sharjah a global scientific beacon and a distinguished centre for science and knowledge.

The meeting was attended by Sheikh Salem Bin Abdulrahman Al Qasimi, Chairman of the Sharjah Ruler’s Office; Hamad Obaid Al Mansoori, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Mohammed bin Rashid Space Centre (MBRSC); Yousef Hamad Al Shaibani, Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of the centre; Dr Hamid Majoul Al Nuaimi, Director General of SAASST; Salem Humaid Al Marri, Director General of MBRSC, and a number of officials and members of the UAE Mission 2 team.
