The China Media Group is the largest media group in China, comprising several distinguished media institutions.

The media plays a vital role in uniting people and promoting effective communication, stressed Wang Yibiao, Deputy Editor-in-Chief of China’s People's Daily newspaper.

In his statements to the Emirates News Agency (WAM) on the sidelines of the second edition of the Global Media Congress (GMC), Wang Yibiao said that the Congress constitutes a platform to enhance global media exchange and cooperation, especially in light of its focus on sustainable development.

He underscored the importance of this edition of the GMC, which is addressing climate change and global warming, and its role in supporting the objectives of the UAE-hosted COP28.

As an important member of the Global South, Wang explained, the UAE plays a key role in promoting media cooperation between the countries of that region. China and Arab countries, including the UAE, are active members in the Global South.

The Deputy Editor-in-Chief of the People's Daily emphasised the UAE’s active role in the "Belt and Road Initiative”, highlighting China’s keenness to cooperate with all parties, including the UAE, to build a better future through joint cooperation and sustainable development.

Wang Yibiao concluded his remarks by expressing his hope that the GMC would contribute to strengthening media cooperation between the UAE, China and the countries participating in the Congress.
