Abu Dhabi Court for Family, Civil and Administrative Cases obligated a person to return Dhs44,000, and fined him Dhs5,000, after he received the amount from another person to obtain a passport for him.

He reportedly signed a customary acknowledgment of that, but he did not abide by the agreement and when he was asked to return the amount, he stalked.

The details of the case date back to an earlier time when a person filed a lawsuit against another in which he demanded that he be obligated to pay him Dhs44,000, compensation of Dhs30,000, and a legal interest of 12% from the date of filing the lawsuit until full payment. He also requested the court to obligate him to pay the fees and expenses of the lawsuit.

The appellant said that he gave the appellee Dhs44,000 to obtain him a passport, adding that he signed a customary declaration for that, but he did not adhere to the agreement and when he was asked to return the amount, he stalked.

The court made it clear that the declaration signed by the appellee, which was legally translated, proved that he received Dhs44,000 from the plaintiff to obtain a passport for him, but he did not comply with that, and did not appear in court to provide evidence that he had paid the amount. Then the court obligated him to return the amount.

Regarding the request for compensation of Dhs30,000, the court stated that the appellee caused damage to the appellant by seizing his money, so it obligated him to pay Dhs5,000 in compensation for all the damages he incurred.
