Fog covered some coastal and northern inland areas in the country, on Thursday morning, and lasted for 5 hours, starting from 04 00 am, as a result of the country being affected by an extension of a weak surface low-pressure system from the East, accompanied by an extension of an upper-air low-pressure system.

The National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) stated that fog began to form on Al Ajban and Saih Shuaib in Abu Dhabi, on Sweihan in Al Ain and on Al Manhad and Al Lisaili in Dubai, while it was intermittent fog over Al Maktoum International Airport.

It also indicated that the lowest temperature recorded in the country on Thursday was 19.5°C in Jebel Jais in Ras Al Khaimah at 4:45 am.

For their part, the Abu Dhabi Police activated the varying speeding system along the roads that witnessed fog formation. The speed limit was reduced to 80 km/h on Saih Shuaib – Al Faqaa Road, and on Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Road (Kizad - Saih Al Sedira).

The police appealed to motorists to adhere to the speed set by the signs and electronic signs on the emirate's roads in times of fog.

The NCM has also expected that the weather on Friday and Saturday will be fair to partly cloudy at times, with a chance of some cumulus cloud formation eastward and southward, might be associated with rainfall by afternoon. Temperatures tend to slightly decrease.

Humid by night and Saturday morning with a chance of fog or mist formation over some areas. The winds will be light to moderate, southeasterly to northeasterly, and freshening at times, at a speed of 10 – 20, reaching up to 35 km/h. The sea will be slight in the Arabian Gulf and in the Sea of Oman.
