Abu Dhabi Court for Family, Civil and Administrative Cases obligated a parent of a female student to pay a private school Dhs17,863, the value of his daughter’s school tuition fees, which he did not pay without justification and a lawful reason, despite him being warned.

The details of the case date back to an earlier time when a private school filed a lawsuit against the parent of a female student in which it requested that he be obligated to pay Dhs17,863, in addition to a 5% delay interest from the date of filing the lawsuit until full payment, as well as obligating him to pay the fees and expenses of the lawsuit and lawyer’s fees.

The school said that it provided educational services to students residing in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi and the appellee applied to enroll his daughter, who was accepted, but he did not pay the tuition fees for a full academic year despite him being warned.

The court explained that the case papers proved that the appellee owed the school a full academic year’s fees which he did not pay, did not submit documents proving his exemption from paying the fees, and did not attend the trial to present his defence.

Then the court obligated him to pay the amount and rejected the request to obligate him to pay the delay interest.
