The Dubai Criminal Court sentenced an Asian maid to six months in jail to be followed by deportation and fined her Dhs35,000 for stealing gold jewellery from her employer’s safe within a month of her employment.

The case dates back to last April when an Asian woman reported to the police that she had been robbed by a maid who had been working in her house.

The victim stated that she discovered that gold jewellery and bracelets worth Dhs35,000 had been stolen from a safe in her bedroom.

She stated in the interrogations that she checked the surveillance cameras in her house and discovered that the accused, who had been working for her for only one month, had entered her bedroom, opened the safe and stolen the jewellery.

The maid later told her employer that she was no longer interested in working for her and left the house. According to the official documents, a team of detectives managed to spot the maid and arrest her.

When the team checked her bag, they found a piece of jewellery that she had stolen from her employer’s house. On interrogation, the maid was faced with the surveillance camera recordings and had to confess to her crime.
