The UAE weather body said that temperature in Sharjah’s  Al Dhaid region reached 50°C on Friday.

The authorities urged residents to hydrate themselves as high humidity made it difficulty to stand in open spaces.

The authorities said that separate areas of the country on Friday witnessed fog formation and heavy rainfall, because of the country being affected by weak surface pressure systems accompanied by an extension of an air altitude in the upper layers of the atmosphere, the National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) said.

Fog formed on Madinat Zayed, Liwa Road and Sheikh Khalifa International Street towards Ruwais, Turaif and Mirfa in Al Dhafra region, as well as on Arjan and Abu Al Abyad Island in Abu Dhabi, the NCM added.

The NCM also indicated that the lowest temperature recorded in the country on Friday was 27.2°C in Rakna area in Al Ain, while the highest temperature was 50.3°C in Dhaid, Sharjah.

The Centre appealed to individuals to be careful and exercise caution while driving during fog formation and rainfall that affects the horizontal visibility, especially along the inland and coastal areas. They are also advised to stay away from places flooded with rainwater and surface-run-offs.
