Sharjah Press Club (SPC), an initiative of the Sharjah Government Media Bureau (SGMB), successfully wrapped up its second training programme during the month of August yesterday, targeting students with a Communication major. The students benefited immensely from the twin workshops, on the "Use of digital tools in information authentication" and "Creative Writing."

The "Use of digital tools in information authentication" workshop dealt with the importance of facts and authentic information and various types of fake news and false information and digital programs being used to create and disseminate fake news, photos and videos. The workshop discussed the various technological tools and options to verify visual, audio, and written content.

In the "Creative Writing" workshop, participants learned about the various writing methods and styles, and how to construct texts coherently while defining the technical characteristics, rhetorical methods, and the steps of transforming ideas into a written work.

The workshops included several examples and practical applications to enhance the participants’ knowledge and achieve desired developmental goals.

Speaking on the occasion, Asma Al Juwaied, Manager of the Sharjah Press Club, stressed that the two workshops refined and broadened the students' knowledge by providing them with useful skills needed for their various media specialisations.
