The General Department of Punitive and Correctional Establishments at Dubai Police, in partnership with Danube Group, has officially inaugurated a sewing facility to educate and train inmates, equipping them with vocational skills as part of the rehabilitation and reintegration process.

This official inauguration was conducted by Brigadier Marwan Abdul Karim Julfar, Director of the General Department of Punitive and Correctional Establishments at Dubai Police, in the presence of Brigadier General Salah Juma Bu Osaiba, Deputy Director of the General Department of Punitive and Correctional Establishments, and Mr. Rizwan Sajan, Executive Director of Danube Group.

Brigadier Julfar reaffirmed that Dubai Police spares no effort in implementing innovative and more effective approaches, in collaboration with partners, to empower male and female inmates and provide them with skills and crafts to facilitate their rehabilitation journey.

He mentioned that the facility aims to offer inmates an opportunity to learn, train, and acquire a trade that allows them to earn a living and support their families, indicating that the fashion items sewn by inmates will be introduced to the public market.

"Upon completing their sentences, they will have the chance to pursue a respectable profession, leading them back to the right path," he indicated.

Brigadier Julfar conveyed his deep appreciation to the Danube Group for their continuous efforts to support a crucial segment of society, highlighting their unwavering support to male and female inmates.

He also praised Danube's pivotal role in the inmates' professional and educational growth journey, whether by assisting them in establishing their projects upon release or fostering future career opportunities.

Brigadier Julfar emphasized that this joint humanitarian initiative is part of the department's rehabilitation and educational programs to equip inmates with vocational skills to facilitate their successful integration into the community as respected and valued members.

Meanwhile, Rizwan Sajan, expressed his gratitude for the fruitful cooperation with Dubai Police, praising its significant humanitarian role in enhancing safety and security within the community through establishing sewing and training facilities, which serve as a vital stepping stone for the inmates' future.

Ms Shabnam Nassar, Director of the Sewing Facility, pointed out that the facility is designed to produce fashion and clothes that meet the demands of the local market, operating under the guidance of skilled and experienced professionals in the field. She emphasized their objective of teaching sewing skills to the inmates, with a dual focus on elevating the significance of education and training within this group in the community and integrating them into the economic development process.

The inauguration ceremony was also attended by Colonel Abdullah Al Khader, Director of the Administrative Affairs Department; Captain Faisal Sharif Al-Ali, Acting Director of the Inmates' Education and Training Department; and several senior officers and employees.
