Sandstorm followed by heavy rain on Saturday gave some respite to Sharjah residents from blistering heat. Sandstorm engulfed the Emirate late in the afternoon and then the cloud burst open.

Motorists found it difficult to navigate through the slippery roads.

NCM reported light to moderate rain in Wasit suburb.

Meanwhile, Sharjah Police warned residents to take caution while driving. Residents were also asked to stay away from canyons and flooded areas.

Sharjah Police urged residents to abide by the directives and guidelines issued by the police and competent authorities.

Rain was also reported in parts of Dubai and Ajman. NCM reported light to moderate rain in Deira.
