Council discusses key issues to enrich media sector in Sharjah

Sheikh Sultan Bin Ahmed Bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah and Chairman of Sharjah Media Council (SMC), has chaired the council's meeting, which was held at the House of Wisdom in Sharjah.

The council discussed a number of important issues related to the work of the media sector in the Emirate of Sharjah, and took a number of decisions regarding its continued development and success.

The meeting reviewed a report on the work of the Sharjah Media City (Shams), which included developments in commercial licencing, ongoing media projects in it, and its achievements, as well as some statistics related to its social media channels and various events.

The meeting also dealt with a report of the Sharjah Broadcasting Authority (SBA), which reviewed the progress of work in the seventh edition of its programme for training future generations in media, extending for 4 weeks, with 110 male and female students are trained in the main building of the authority, in addition to the building of Al Wusta channel in Al Dhaid, and the Sharjah channel building in Kalba.

Moreover, the meeting reviewed a report by the Sharjah Government Media Bureau (SGMB), which included a number of programmes and projects, such as a project studying government communication practice in local departments in the Emirate.

The meeting witnessed the attendance of Dr. Khalid Omar Al Midfa, Chairman of the Sharjah Media City (Shams), Mohammed Hassan Khalaf, Director-General of the Sharjah Broadcasting Authority (SBA), Tariq Saeed Allay, Director-General of the Sharjah Government Media Bureau (SGMB), Hassan Yaqoub Al Mansoori, Secretary-General of the Sharjah Media Council (SMC), Rashid Abdullah Al Obed, Director of the Sharjah Media City (Shams), Salem Ali Hamad Al Ghaithi, Director of the Sharjah Broadcasting Authority (SBA), and Hessa Abdullah Al Hammadi, Assistant Secretary-General of the Sharjah Media Council (SMC).
