Resident foreigners can issue a residence visa for newborns inside the UAE under the sponsorship of a resident working for the private sector or a free zone, according to the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Ports Security (ICP), through its smart channels, with a fee of Dhs350.

The ICP clarified that the service can be obtained through its website https://icp.gov.ae/, the UAEICP smart application, or by logging in with the digital identity or with the user’s name, accessing the service, then filling in the application data and finally paying the fees.

It also can be obtained through the customer happiness centres or through typing offices approved by the ICP.

Three requirements must be met to obtain the service, as the passport must be valid for more than one month, and that residency procedures must be completed for the newborn inside the Emirates who did not leave the country within 120 days from the date of birth, and fines will be applied on the newborn after 120 days, according the ICP.

ICP specified the documents required to obtain a residence visa for newborns, which are: the ID card of the father and mother, a copy of the fee payment receipt, the original passport of the newborn, with a validity of not less than six months, the sponsor’s salary certificate, a copy of his passport, a coloured personal photo, a birth certificate, and a work contract, the lease contract, a copy of health insurance, and a copy of the mother’s passport.

The fees for issuing a residence visa for a newborn include Dhs100 for application fees, Dhs100 for issuance fees, Dhs100 for smart services, and Dhs50 for electronic services and the ICP.

ICP affirmed that the application will be rejected electronically after 30 days if it is returned due to deficiencies in the data or lack of completion of the required documents, and it is also completely rejected if it is returned three times, for the same reason, and in this case only the issuance fees and financial guarantees (if any) are refunded.
