A rare pink dolphin was spotted in the waters of Louisiana.

Thurman Gustin, a resident in the area said that I have seen dolphins in the waters but I have never seen a pink one.

Gustin has been fishing in the waters for more than 20 years, according to local media.

The rare mammal was spotted the pink dolphin in Cameron Parish near the Gulf of Mexico.

He shared the video clip on Facebook, which went viral.

Gustin wrote on Facebook, “Rare pink dolphin spotted in the Gulf of Mexico off the coast of Louisiana. So beautiful... #MarineLife#wildlife.”

Gustin told local news channels that he noticed something just under the water that wasn't normal.

“So I stopped the boat and up popped this beautiful pink dolphin. I had to record it," he added.

The video showed the pink dolphin briefly coming out of the water before diving back under as if following Gustin’s boat.

Gustin said that the rare encounter will have a lasting impression in his  life.

According to the Blue World Institute, dolphins displaying pink or white coloring are rare and often attributed to albinism.

Local media said that the dolphin might be 'Pinky,' a renowned dolphin from southern Louisiana.

It was first spotted in 2007 in the Calcasieu River. It turned out that Pinky has a Facebook page with considerable following. People share their encounters with her on the page.
