Temperature climbs to record 50.1°C in UAE

Bida Dafas in Al Dhafra region of Abu Dhabi recorded on Sunday, the highest temperature in the country, 50.1°C at 14:45 UAE local time, while the lowest temperature was recorded in Farfar in Fujairah, 26.3°C, at 4.45am.

The National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) expected that the weather on Sunday would be fair to partly cloudy in general, with the chance of some cumulus cloud formation in the east in the afternoon.

Southeasterly winds will blow, turning to northwesterly, sometimes active, stirring dust, with light to moderate speed ranging from 10 to 25, amounting to 40 kilometres/hour, the NCM reported, adding that the waves on Sunday will be light in the Arabian Gulf and in the Sea of Oman.

The weather on Monday will be clear to partly cloudy and dusty at times, with possibility of low clouds formation on the eastern coast in the morning.  Winds on Monday will be southeasterly turning to northwesterly, light to moderate, active at times, stirring dust during the day, the NCM indicated, adding that the waves will be light in the Arabian Gulf, and light to moderate in the Sea of Oman.

The NCM pointed out that Tuesday’s weather will be generally clear to partly cloudy, with low cloud formation on the east coast in the morning, while it will be humid at night and on Wednesday morning on some coastal areas, with the possibility of light fog formation.

The winds, according to the NCM, will be southeasterly turning to northwesterly, light to moderate, brisk at times, stirring dust during the day, and the waves will be light to moderate at times in the Arabian Gulf and in the Sea of Oman.

For Wednesday’s weather, the NCM expected it to be generally clear to partly cloudy, with low cloud formation on the eastern coast in the morning, humid at night and on Thursday morning over some coastal and inland areas.

Southeasterly winds will blow, turning to northwesterly, light to moderate, sometimes brisk and dust stirring during the day, with speed ranging from 10 to 25, amounting to 40 kilometres/hour.

The waves will be light to moderate in the Arabian Gulf and light in the Sea of Oman, NCM reported.
