The Abu Dhabi Civil Defence Authority, in cooperation with the Department of Economic Development-Abu Dhabi, has shut down three establishments in the emirate for failing to abide by the necessary safety requirements. 

This came within the “Field Survey” initiative that has been launched recently by the Civil Defence Authority to ensure the application of safety measures in buildings and facilities, enhancing protection of life and property in the emirate.

"The closure of those establishments was based on the reports of the field survey and inspection committees, which monitored practices that threaten the safety of life and property," the Authority said.

Therefore, the owners of buildings and establishments in the emirate are called on to correct erroneous and violating practices, notably the lack of cleanliness of the site surrounding the central gas tank in some buildings.

The Authority also warned against doing modifications or additions without prior approval from the Civil Defense.

It also warned of random storage in rooms of electric generators, water pumps and corridors, as this may obstruct movement at the emergency paths and exits.

It was also indicated that the inspection committees detected random rooms and kitchens on roofs of some buildings, lack of maintenance for fire extinguishers and smoke detectors, and use of the diesel tank in a number of bakeries and restaurants without a permit from the Abu Dhabi Civil Defense Authority. In addition, they monitored gas cylinders stored improperly, and lack of fire alarms, extinguishers, emergency exits and clear guiding signs.
