His Highness Dr Sheikh Sultan Bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, issued a decree-law regarding the Sharjah Police General Headquarters. Under the decree-law, an independent local regular body titled ‘Sharjah Police General Headquarters’ will be established in the Emirate of Sharjah.

The body, which will have the legal personality and the necessary legal capacity to achieve its goals and carry out its functions, will report to the Ruler of Sharjah and will have its own flag and emblem and its members will have a special uniform. Its units are distinguished by insignia based on a decision issued by the Commander-in-Chief of Sharjah Police, subject to the Executive Council’s approval.

The Sharjah Police General Headquarters will be based in Sharjah City and may establish branches or offices for its own or for some organizational units across the cities and areas of the emirate, subject to a decision issued by the Executive Council. The decree-law also stipulates that the organizational structure of the department will be issued by an Emiri decree, subject to the Commander-in-Chief’s proposal and the Executive Council’s approval.
