The Dubai Criminal Court imprisoned an Asian for 3 years after being convicted of assaulting a compatriot, who later succumbed to his injuries, inside an accommodation in Al Khawaneej area in Dubai.
He will be deportation from the country after serving his sentence.
The case dates back to August 2022, when an Asian filed a report stating that one of his roommates had died after being assaulted by a compatriot roommate.
According to the complainant’s statement, he said that he discovered the death of the victim on the morning of the incident, as a result of an injury he sustained after the suspect assault on him the evening before the incident.
He added in the interrogations that a dispute broke out between the suspect and the victim who was drunk, so the suspect assaulted him to get him out of his room and during the fight the victim's head hit the iron rod of one of the beds.
The quarrel ended after all roommates intervened.
According to the case file, the residents of the apartment discovered on the morning of the incident that the victim passed away and the suspect fled the place, but was arrested later.
