The Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship, Customs and Ports Security (ICP) affirmed that the permit for persons staying outside the UAE for more than 6 months does not include residents of the Emirate of Dubai, according to the new updates.

It is worth noting that the permit came into effect at the beginning of 2023. ICP clarified that the permit to stay outside the country for more than 6 months is granted, provided that the reason for staying during that period is presented.

The residents can activate the residency again and enter the country with it after the approval of the authority.

Residents of Dubai who have the Golden visa are excluded and if the beneficiary of the service is sponsored by an establishment, the application must be submitted through it, and if it is on a personal sponsorship, the application must be submitted by the sponsor.

But if the beneficiary of the service is a self sponsor, he can submit the application using the personal account or through public service facilities, according to the ICP.

ICP added that whoever wants to obtain the permit must attach copies of the Emirates ID and of the passport, and the reason for the delay, stressing that the permit must be applied for from outside the UAE.

The remaining period of staying outside must be more than 30 days when submitting the application, and the person can submit the request after 180 days of staying outside with a fine of Dhs100 for every 30 days or less spent outside the country, ICP clarified.

ICP affirmed that the violation fees can be refunded only if the application is rejected, and when it is approved, the applicant must enter the country within 30 days.

Applicants can apply for the permit through the authority's smart services system, or the smart phone application «UAEICP», for a fee of Dhs150, through Customer Happiness centres or approved typing offices of the authority, ICP added.
