UAE leaders invite Israeli president and PM to attend COP28

His Highness Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, has sent a written letter to Isaac Herzog, President of the State of Israel, with an official invitation to attend the COP28 climate conference to be hosted by the UAE at Expo City Dubai in November.

Herzog received the message during his meeting with Mohamed Mahmoud Al Khaja, UAE Ambassador to Israel.

Meanwhile, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, sent an invitation to Benjamin Netanyahu, Prime Minister of the State of Israel, to attend the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP28), which the UAE will host at Expo City Dubai in November.

The invitation was presented to Netanyahu by Mohamed Mahmoud Al Khaja, UAE Ambassador to the State of Israel.

President Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed also sent a written message to Katalin Novák, President of Hungary, with an invitation to the COP28 climate conference.

The invitation was delivered by Saud Hamad Al Shamsi, UAE Ambassador to Hungary, to Kristóf Altusz, Diplomatic Advisor to the President.

The 2023 United Nations Climate Change Conference or Conference of the Parties of the UNFCCC, more commonly referred to as COP28, will be the 28th United Nations Climate Change conference, held from November 30th until December 12th, 2023 at the Expo City, Dubai.

The first Global Stocktake (GST) will provide a comprehensive assessment of progress since adopting the Paris Agreement. This will help align efforts on climate action, including measures that need to be put in place to bridge the gaps in progress.

The COP28 UAE Presidency will work to ensure that the world responds to the Global Stocktake with a clear plan of action.
