His Highness Dr. Sheikh Sultan Bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, instructed the Sharjah Housing Programme to cancel the requirement for male and female Emiratis including those married to non-Emiratis to have two or more children to get housing support.

Sheikh Sultan’s instruction came as part of his direct response to Umm Majid, an Emirati woman who called the Sharjah Housing Programme and told the people concerned that she had cancer, had one son and had already received approval for housing support.

When the programme called her back and learnt she was sick and had one son, the Housing Support Programme withdrew the approval that Umm Majid had previously received due to the requirement for those who receive housing support to have two children or more.

The instruction was announced by Mohammed Khalaf via the Direct Line programme broadcast live on Sharjah Broadcasting Authority.
