The UAE Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation revealed that the number of subscribers to the unemployment insurance system has grown from 1 million subscribers on April 5 to 1,290,137 subscribers as of the first day of May 2023.
The Ministry affirmed that the insurance that covers workers in the federal government sector and the private sector is one of the most prominent UAE legislation guaranteeing the rights of workers as a low-cost job security umbrella, which will ensure the enhancement of the competitiveness of the labour market, and one of the most important pillars of legislation aimed at attracting and motivating Emirati cadres and competencies and global skills and providing the best ways of caring for him.
The Ministry called on everyone to quickly subscribe to enjoy the insurance benefits it provides them, calling on employers to motivate their employees and encourage them to subscribe to the system. On the occasion of International Labor Day, the Ministry affirmed that the UAE surrounded this vital sector with an integrated set of integrated decisions that covered most aspects related to securing rights and upgrading legislation and decisions supporting those rights to a more advanced stage, which turned the UAE into one of the countries most targeted by job seekers from different countries of the world.
During the past year 2022, the UAE witnessed one of the largest and most comprehensive modernization and development processes in the legislative and regulatory system concerned with workers' rights, through the issuance of 8 pieces of legislation, including decrees, laws and ministerial decisions.
The list included Federal Decree-Law No. 9 of 2022 regarding auxiliary service workers, Federal Decree-Law No. 13 of 2022 regarding insurance against unemployment, Cabinet Resolution No. 33 of 2022 regarding work-related injuries and occupational diseases, and Ministerial Resolution No. 44 of 2022 regarding health and safety of vocational and labor accommodations, Ministerial Resolution No. 43 of 2022 regarding the protection of wages, Ministerial Resolution No. 48 of 2022 regarding the organization of labor inspection procedures, Resolution No. 46 of 2022 regarding the establishment of a Collective Labor Disputes Committee, and Ministerial Resolution No. 47 of 2022 regarding the organization of procedures for labor disputes and complaints.
