Sheikh Sultan inaugurates the new mosque in Al Khan area.

His Highness Dr Sheikh Sultan Bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, on Wednesday, opened the “Awal Al Khulafaa Al Rashideen” mosque in Al Khan, Sharjah.

The mosque was built on the Islamic and modern architectural styles.

 

Sheikh Sultan was briefed about a detailed explanation of the mosque, including its construction specifications, the facilities annexed to it, and the services available to worshipers, as the mosque serves a densely populated area.

The mosque was built in memory of the late Dr. Abdullah Omran Taryam, who passed away in January 2014.

The mosque was inaugurated in the presence of Khalid Abdullah Taryam, Chairman of Dar Al Khaleej, and a large number of officials.

The total capacity of the mosque is 1,300 worshipers, on a total area of 4,353.6 square meters, of which 939.35 square meters for the building. The area for male worshipers in the mosque is 837.5 square meters and it accommodates 1,170 worshipers, while the area for female worshipers is 91.35 square meters and it accommodates 130 worshipers.

The mosque is adorned with two minarets, each 60 meters tall, with four domes that give the mosque a distinctive engineering style.

The inauguration was attended by Sheikh Humaid Bin Ahmed Al Mualla, Sheikh Abdullah Bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Director of the General Authority for Islamic Affairs and Endowments branch in Sharjah, Saeed Al Raqbani, Advisor to His Highness Ruler of Fujairah, Humaid Al Qatami, and a number of senior officials and heads of government departments.
