Al Ain Court of First Instance rejected a lawsuit filed by a man against another demanding to obligate him to pay Dhs40,000 for a Snapchat account he had bought from him, but after the purchase, the appellee allegedly closed it.

He also demanded that the appellee would pay the legal interest of 5% from the date of filing the lawsuit until full payment, besides fees and expenses and the lawyer’s fees.

The complainant pointed out that the appellee sold him the account for Dhs40,000, and after two days he closed it. When he allegedly contacted him to find out the reason, he told him that he would open it again, and then he ignored his calls, and later he discovered that the appellee sold the same account to another person.

The appellee affirmed that the complainant was the one who sold the account to a third person after two months for Dhs50,000, and that the closure of the account was due to the new buyer's misuse and violation of the site's terms.

The judge tasked an information technology expert, who affirmed that the account did not exist on Snapchat explaining that the original owner of the account was a woman and not the appellee, who only played the role of mediator to sell the account to the appellant.

The court indicated that the expert affirmed in his report that the appellant used the account for about a month, and then sold it, and that proved it was without defects, as evidenced by the fact that he used it for quite a long time.

The court added that the papers did not prove that the appellee had a role in closing the account and then it dismissed the case and obliged the appellant to pay the fees and expenses.
