Private schools in Sharjah to increase fees by 5 per cent for academic year 2023-24

The Sharjah Private Education Authority (SPEA) announced its approval of the annual increase in tuition fees in private schools in the Emirate of Sharjah by 5 per cent for the academic year 2023-2024.
The SPEA said on Instagram, “In order to achieve the highest level of quality teaching and learning in the Emirate of Sharjah and in response to the private sector's needs to enhance resources and work requirements, it has been decided to approve an annual tuition fee increase in Sharjah private schools of a rate not exceeding 5% for the academic year 2023-2024, according to the school’s academic evaluation and the country's inflation rate.
“It should also be noted that schools with a rating below "Acceptable" are not eligible to increase tuition fees.”
The increase proportion is determined according to the school’s academic evaluation, and the country’s inflation rate.
Last week, the Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA) in Dubai approved a three per cent increase in school fees for private schools for the academic year 2023-2024 based on a study of the economic and academic situation in the private school education system in the Emirate of Dubai.
The decision takes into account the interests of all concerned parties and ensures continued improvement of the quality and sustainability of education in all educational curricula applied in private schools in Dubai.
According to Dubai’s School Fees Framework, a private school that improves its rating as per the School Inspection Bureau from Very Weak to Weak, from Weak to Acceptable or from Acceptable to Good is entitled to request its school fees to be increased by double the Educational Cost Index (ECI) of 3 per cent multiplied by 2.
