A dispute between two families almost caused the downing of a civilian plane moments before it landed at Beirut International Airport.

The families were exchanging heavy gunfire between two neighbourhood near the airport.

Luckily the passenger plane survived the certain disaster before landing at Rafic Hariri International Airport in the capital, Beirut following the shooting that took place near the airport.

It is noteworthy that an armed clash took place between the Safwan family and the Al-Miqdad family, in which heavy gunfire took place in the locality near the airport.

It was also reported that one of the families fired two B7 missiles against the backdrop of a previous dispute between them a few days ago.

The situation however escalated, and resulted in heavy gunfire.

A video shared online showed plane heavy machine gun bullets narrowly missing the plane as it prepares to land at Beirut airport.

An investigation has been launched into the incident.

This is the not the first time such an incident has take place.

Stray bullets from gunfire celebrations for the new year hit two Middle East Airlines jets parked at Beirut’s international airport causing minor damage to the planes without hurting anyone, the airline said.

The two jets were fixed at the Rafik Hariri International Airport, according to officials.
On Nov. 10, a stray bullet hit an Middle East Airlines jet while landing in Beirut, causing some material damage.

No one among the passengers or crew was hurt, the head of the Lebanese airline company said at the time.
