The Dubai Criminal Court sentenced an Asian to six months in prison to be followed by deportation on the charge of blackmailing his girlfriend, who wanted to break up with him.

The Court heard that the convict stealthily recorded a video call with his girlfriend, as she was wearing home dress and had no doubt that he was recording the call.

With that video, the convict blackmailed his girlfriend, threatening to spread it, unless she retracts her decision.

The incident dates back to last October, when a girl lodged a complaint with the police, stating that she had been blackmailed by her ex-boyfriend by a video of her, in order to retract her decision of breaking up with him.

She explained that she had received from the convict, via Whatsapp, messages containing threatening phrases and a clip of an old video call in which she was wearing immodest clothes.

Their friendship started two years ago, before they fell in love, she told the police.

“Naturally, we were chatting via chat programmes, and I was responding to his request to appear in immodest clothes during the video calls,” she added.

Following a dispute between them, she decided to break-up with him, she said, adding that he lost his head when she informed him.

He threatened to send an indecent video of her to her family and friends, if she broke-up with him.

“He was serious and that he sent the video to my family members and a number of my friends, so I reported the police,” she said.

The convict admitted that he had stealthily recorded a video call between him and his girlfriend and he used it to force her to retract her decision of breaking up with him.
