French President Emmanuel Macron was attacked by climate activists during his visit to the International Agriculture Fair in Paris.

In the video that was circulated on social media, the activists appear to manhandle Macron accusing him of negligence in the climate issue.

The French president's security staff  intervened and tackled the activists.

However, social media users later said that the way security guards dealt with the perpetrators was brutal.

Macron opened the 59th International Agricultural Exhibition, then toured the exhibition, where he met farmers and workers in the sector.

The exhibition is a major event for politicians in the largest agricultural economy within the European Union, and Macron has always supported this sector, but he sometimes clashes with his workers about his view of opposing the use of chemical pesticides.

The annual organisation of the exhibition is an important occasion in the French political work. Presidents sometimes use it to test their popularity.
