The criminal investigation agents at Sharjah Police arrested an Asian, who specialized in robbing stores for selling mobile phones. They also arrested the partners who used to deal with him and were all referred to the public prosecution. According to Colonel Omar Ahmed Abu Al Zawd, Director of Criminal Investigation Department (CID) at Sharjah Police, the investigations conducted proved that the suspect had been involved in several thefts from stores selling mobile phones in Sharjah and consequently the CID teams set a tight plan to catch him and the partners dealing with him.

Al Zawd pointed out that according to a report received by the department, an unknown person broke the door of a store for selling mobile phones late at night and stole smart phones and accessories worth Dhs200,000. The surveillance cameras showed that the thief was wearing a mask, hat and gloves while robbing the store in a bid not to be recognized, but thanks to their strenuous efforts, the CID specialized teams were able to arrest the suspect and return the stolen items to the store owner within only eight hours, he said.

Although the suspect tried to mislead the detectives, but their efficiency and skill led them to identify the suspect and bring him to justice, using Sharjah Police’s digital surveillance cameras installed everywhere across the emirate, he added. Confronting with the evidence, the suspect confessed to the charge and told the police about the locations of the stolen phones and the partners who used to buy phones from him without official receipts, he said, adding that they were all referred to the public prosecution for further legal measures.
