75-year-old Iraqi woman donates her pension for Turkey quake victims

In a noble gesture, an elderly Iraqi woman has donated her pension to the earthquake victims in Turkey.
The 75-year-old Khorshid Hussein Mohammed lives in Barda Qaraman on the outskirts of Sulaymaniyah, set aside her differences and illness, and made the decision.
Khorshid told the media that she was born in 1948 in the village of Bargurdi, Mawat.
She said she had to leave her village in 1989 due to oppression by the Baath regime and recalled her time she lived in a camp.
Khorshid stated that when she noticed the catastrophe in Turkey on TV channels, she remembered her very own difficult days fleeing her village and remained homeless for quite some time.
She said that after she heard that a relief campaign was set up for the earthquake victims in Sulaymaniyah centre,
Khorshid took with her 50,000 Iraqi dinars (almost 645 Turkish liras) of her pension and a few clothes to donate at the camp.
She said, “Despite my illness, I went to Sulaymaniyah by taxi. It was raining, and I couldn't sleep that night and donated everything.”
The 7.8 magnitude earthquake and its aftershocks struck southeastern Turkey and northern Syria on Feb. 6, reducing huge swaths of towns and cities to fragments of concrete and twisted metal.
The death toll has surpassed 37,000.
