A woman has been detained in India for running half naked on a flight from Abu Dhabi to Mumbai.
According to Mumbai police, the woman, identified as Paola Perruccio, was reportedly intoxicated.
She asked the crewmembers that she be allowed to be seated in business class despite being booked in economy.
The police said the woman took off some of her clothes and walked up and down the aisle in a partially naked state.
The crew members revealed that she was hurling abuses and assaulted the staff.
The police said that the woman is a native of Italy.
The incident took place on a Vistara Airline flight taking off from Abu Dhabi to Mumbai on Jan.30.
The woman was handed over to police as soon as the flight landed at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport.
She was later given bail, but the details have not been released yet.
Vistara confirmed the incident and said an unruly passenger on Vistara flight UK 256 operating from Abu Dhabi to Mumbai on 30 January 2023 created a ruckus.
Vistara said the captain issued a warning card and made a decision to restrain the passenger.
The pilot informed the security agencies on the ground and immediate action was taken upon arrival.
The Mumbai Police filed a chargesheet relating to misbehaviour.
A medical examination was also conducted on the woman before booking her under the law.
The airline said that any misbehavior with the staff and passengers will not be tolerated, and an appropriate action will be taken to deal with it.
The youth also molested her during the scuffle and fled the spot before the security staff could reach there.
The passenger began to act up soon after takeoff, quarrelling with other passengers, assaulting a flight attendant and pummelling the cockpit's door
The passenger could not be revived and was declared dead on arrival by the airport medical team.
This was on Friday evening, when the operations room was alerted about a brawl among members of one family in a house located in an area of the emirate. A police force immediately dispatched to the location of the house to deal with the incident.
