Work teams at Sharjah Police’s forensic laboratory managed to detect two new types of synthetic cannabinoids hidden in cosmetic packages.

This achievement culminated the efforts made by the work teams to keep pace with the rapid developments of what is happening in the world of manufacturing and promoting narcotics in line with the Ministry of Interior’s strategic goal of enhancing the country’s security and safety. 

The work teams made the necessary analyses, experiments and research practices and used the latest scientific and technical methods as well as the updated database to serve this purpose.

“Synthetic cannabinoids, which are human-made synthetic compounds prepared in secret laboratories, are 80-100 per cent more effective than hashish and can cause death to the users,” Colonel Eng. Adel Ahmed Al Mazmi, Acting Head of Forensic Laboratory, said.

Al Mazmi stressed the readiness and willingness of Sharjah Police’s forensic laboratory to combat drug trafficking and deal with all developments in order to prevent the spread of these synthetic cannabinoids among members of the society.
