A Lebanese army intelligence patrol arrested a depositor after he tried to storm a bank in Sidon by force and used his gun to break the doors.

It was also revealed that he works in the Lebanese army, according to Lebanese media.
Footage captured by the mobile phone camera showed the moment of the shooting at the entrance to the bank.
In August 2022, a hostage standoff at Beirut bank ended after the gunman was allowed to take part of his savings for father’s medical bill.
Authorities said 42-year-old Bassam Al-Sheikh Hussein entered the bank branch with a shotgun and a canister of gasoline and threatened to set himself on fire unless he was allowed to take out his money.
After hours of negotiations, he accepted an offer from the bank to receive part of his savings, according to local media and a depositors group that took part in the talks.
Since 2019, Lebanese banks have imposed severe restrictions on deposit withdrawals, and it is now almost impossible for depositors to dispose of their money, especially those deposited in US dollars.
