14 passengers were killed in a terrible collision between two cars in the New Valley Governorate in Upper Egypt last night. The Undersecretary of the Egyptian Ministry of Health in the New Valley Governorate, Ahmed Mahrous, said that the ambulance of the governorate received an alert on Tuesday evening about a collision at the 130th-kilometre area on the Abu Minqar-West Al-Mahoub road, linking the centres of Dakhla and Farafra.

Mahrous added that when the ambulances arrived at the scene, it was found that a collision occurred between a microbus and a heavy transport vehicle, claiming the life of all the 14 passengers of the microbus and the driver of the heavy vehicle. The bodies were transferred to the mortuary of the Central Hospital in the New Valley, where the Public Prosecution started an investigation to find out the circumstances of the accident.

It is worth noting that last Saturday, 24 people drowned after a minibus sank into a canal in Dakahlia Governorate, north of Cairo, and 6 others were injured. The Public Prosecution detained the driver of the sunk bus, who jumped from it before it fell. It turned out that he was the cause of the accident as a result of excessive speed and abusing narcotics.
