UAQ Police arrest gang for stealing items worth Dhs3 million

The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) at the Umm Al Quwain Police arrested a gang of Arabs over involving in stealing oil equipment and electrical materials from the modern industrial area in Umm Al Thaoub.

The stolen items worth about Dhs3 million, according to the police. Colonel Saeed Obaid bin Arran, Director of the CID, said that as soon as the report was received, a competent team at the CID of the Comprehensive Salama Police Station was entrusted to identify and arrest the burglars.

Through the intensified search and investigation, the team was able within (24) hours, to identify and arrest all the gangsters, who confessed to the burglary, Col. Saeed said.

The suspects also admitted that they had sold part of the loot to scrap shops, while the rest of the stolen items were found in industrial sites in one of the emirates, after they guided the investigation team to their location, he added.

The CID Director appealed to the owners of the companies to secure the materials and goods in safe locations and to ensure the necessary guards on them.
