The Dubai Criminal Court sentenced a gang of 5 Arabs to 2 years in jail to be followed by deportation after serving their sentences.

The court also fined them jointly Dhs41,000 on charges of stealing the fine amount from the residence of 15 workers after impersonating police officers.

The details of the case date back to June 2022, when 15 workers in the Al Qusais area filed a complaint alerting that they had been assaulted and robbed by 5 Arabs.

According to their testimony in the interrogations, the gangsters stormed the victims’ residence in Al Qusais area and ordered them to hand over their money and phones after assaulting them with wooden sticks.

One of the victims stated that he and his friends tried to resist the gangsters, but one of them told them they were under arrest and that he was a policeman.

After the gangsters seized the money and phones, they fled the place, but the workers caught two of them.

According to the case file, a team of investigators identified the remaining gang members and arrested them in possession of the victims' money and phones.

On being questioned, they admitted that they stole money and phones of the victims.
