Bloomberg reported Thursday, citing sources, that officials in the administration of US President Joe Biden are discussing whether the United States should submit some projects of Tesla CEO Elon Musk to national security reviews.

Bloomberg added that the projects include Musk's deal to buy social networking platform Twitter and Starlink satellite internet service.

Musk recently used Twitter to announce proposals to end Russia's war in Ukraine, and also said that SpaceX could not fund Starlink internet service in Ukraine indefinitely. He later backtracked and said he would continue to bear the costs of the service.

Sources told Bloomberg that discussions to review Musk's projects are at an early stage, adding that US government officials are studying available tools, if any, that would allow the federal government to review Musk's projects.

One possibility is through the law governing the Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States, which is under the US Treasury Department, to review Musk's projects, the report added.

One element of Musk's $44 billion Twitter deal that could lead to a committee review is the presence of foreign investors in Musk's consortium, Bloomberg said.

The group includes Saudi investor Prince Alwaleed bin Talal and Binance, which was founded in Shanghai.
