The Abu Dhabi Family and Civil and Administrative Cases Court ordered a husband to pay his wife Dhs5,000 in compensation for beating and insulting her, after the wife filed a lawsuit demanding that he pay her Dhs50,000.

The details date back to an earlier time when the wife filed a lawsuit demanding that her husband pay her Dhs50,000 in material and moral compensation, noting that he beat and insulted her, and he was criminally condemned and convicted for that act.

The husband affirmed that the wife's lawsuit is malicious and had no right to request large compensation, stressing that she aimed to obtain a divorce for harm.

The court indicated that the penal verdict convicted the husband of assaulting the integrity of his wife's body, and then ordered him to pay her Dhs5,000, as well as fees and expenses of the lawsuit.
