The Abu Dhabi Court of Cassation upheld an judgment issued by the Court of Instant and supported by the Court of Appeal, obligating an employer (company) to pay Dhs451,876 to an employee who works for it and is still on the job. 

The employer failed to pay the plaintiff’s wages for more than 10 consecutive months.

The plaintiff filed a lawsuit with the Court of First Instance against his employer (the defendant), demanding to oblige it to pay his wages overdue for 10 months and 16 days, with a total amount of Dhs576,724.

He explained that he had been hired to work for the company under an unlimited-term work contract with a basic monthly salary of Dhs20,000 and a total of Dhs50,000 per month.

He also said he is still on the job, but the company did not pay him his wages for the entire period, so he filed the lawsuit, the Court heard.

The Court of First Instance ruled to obligate the company to pay the employee an amount of Dhs576,724, which is the value of the wages claimed.

The “defednat” appealed the judgment, confirming to the Court of Appeal that the plaintiff had received a premium of the wages he demanded, amounting to Dhs124,791, so the Court amended the ruling and obligated the defendant to pay the Dhs451, 876 to the plaintiff.
