Negligent motorist runs over a cyclist in Ras Al Khaimah

The Ras Al Khaimah Police arrested a 29-year-old driver who hit an Asian who was riding his bicycle on a street and fled the scene of the incident, which resulted in the death of the Asian.
Captain Abdul Rahman Ahmed Al Shehhi, Director of Investigation and Commentary Branch at the Traffic and Patrols Department, stated that instantly on receiving the tip off, a team was formed to collect information and investigate the suspect who caused the accident and the vehicle used.
Al Shehhi added that security surveillance cameras on the streets of the emirate were checked to find any video clips which might help to identify the vehicle causing the accident.
After investigations, the team located the vehicle and its driver who was arrested. After the initial investigation, the driver confessed admitted that he had hit the victim and fled the scene.
He was referred to the competent authorities to take the necessary legal measures against him.
