During the first half of 2022, Abu Dhabi Police (ADP), in cooperation with the Control and Follow-up Centre fined 162 drivers, for throwing waste on roads and public facilities while driving.

ADP advised road users to put garbage and waste in the designated places, to take into account environmental safety and public health, and to preserve the civilised appearance of the Emirate.

The police also called on motorists to warn passengers not to throw any waste and to participate in promoting positive behaviours by preserving the environment and public appearance, explaining that this behaviour may result in environmental pollution.

ADP urged the community members to cooperate with the competent authorities in taking care of public health, safety and the environment by disposing the waste in closed garbage containers.

According to the police, the Traffic Law clarified in Article No71 that throwing waste on the road while driving is a violation, for which the violating driver is fined Dhs1,000 and 6 black points.

The police affirmed their keenness to continue efforts to raise awareness of motorists and road users to avoid uncivilised behaviours committed by some motorists carelessly, which distort the environment.
