Another part of the Beirut’s giant port grain silos collapsed on Thursday causing a huge cloud of dust. Coincidently, Thursday happens to be the 2nd anniversary of a massive explosion two years ago in Beirut.

Hundreds marched in Beirut on Thursday to mark the second anniversary of the blast that killed scores.

There was no causality in Thursday’s incident as authorities noticing that the northern block of the silos consisting of four towers has been slowly tilting for days have got the entire area evacuated. A section of the silos also collapsed on Sunday.

In the blast that occurred on Aug. 4, 2020 nearly 220 people were killed and over 6,000 were injured and it caused damage worth billions of dollars.
The 48-metre silos which collapsed on Thursday, was 50 years old and had withstood the force of the explosion two years ago.

The anniversary came amid calls for an international investigation into one of the largest non-nuclear explosions in history.
