The National Center of Meteorology (NCM) has issued weather alerts in some parts of the UAE, urging motorists and residents to remain cautious.

The NCM said, “Be Aware: Be on the lookout if you go in for outdoor activities. Be Prepared: Be on the Alert: Hazardous weather events are Expected. Comply with advice issued by the authorities. Take Action: Be extremely vigilant: Hazardous weather events of exceptional severity are forecast.”

The Abu Dhabi Police called on motorists to exercise caution due to the rainy weather and to follow the changing speed limits displayed on electronic information boards.

According to the NCM briefing, “Be Prepared” comes under orange alert and advises citizens and residents to prepare for a possible foul weather.”

Last week, at least seven people have been killed in the UAE after unseasonable downpours triggered flash flooding in eastern districts of the country.

"We regret to announce that six people of Asian nationalities have been found dead as a result of the floods," the interior ministry said. Five of the seven dead were from Pakistan.

The NCM expects that the weather on Monday will be dusty and partly cloudy to cloudy at times with a chance of rainy cumulus clouds formation eastward by the afternoon extending to some inland and southern areas.

The winds will be light to moderate southeasterly to northeasterly, fresh and strong at times with the clouds’ towering, causing blowing dust and sand with a speed of 20 – 30 reaching 45 km/hr, the NCM added. “The sea will be slight in the Arabian Gulf and in the Oman Sea,” it said.

The Center also said that the temperatures on Monday would be in the range of 44-34°C in Abu Dhabi, 32-44°C in Dubai, 32-42°C in Sharjah, 32-40°C in Ajman, 32-41°C in Umm Al Quwain, 33-42°C in Ras Al Khimah, 31-35°C in Fujairah, 33-44°C in Al Ain.

The NCM has also indicated that the weather on Tuesday will be dusty and partly cloudy in general, with a chance of some cumulus clouds formation eastward by the afternoon extending to some inland areas associated with rainfall.

“The winds will be light to moderate southeasterly to northeasterly winds, freshening at times, causing blowing dust and sand with a speed of 15 – 30 reaching 40 km/hr, while the sea will be slight to moderate occasionally in the Arabian Gulf and slight in the Oman Sea,” the NCM added.
