The Sharjah Youth welcomed 68 members representing 17 Arab countries.

The Sharjah Youth, which is affiliating with Rubu’ Qarn (RQ) Foundation for Creating Future Leaders and Innovators, carried out several workshops that coincided with the objectives of the Arab Parliament for Child in qualifying its members, fostering their knowledge and developing their talent through several activities and educational workshops. This came with the arrival of members of the Arab Parliament for Child in the Emirate of Sharjah.

The Sharjah Youth hosted 68 members representing 17 Arab countries, who came to participate in the fourth and final session of the second session of the Arab Parliament for Child, which will continue until July 30, 2022.

The members were received by Dr. Abdulrahman Al Yasi, Director General of the Sharjah Youth, at Wasit Youth Centre in Sharjah.

Welcoming the visitors, Al Yasi stressed that the Centre is pleased to offer a set of educational programmes and various workshops that aim to enhance skills of children through its interactive activities.

The children later on participated in a number of workshops, which included workshops on the principles of programming and assembling a robot, carpentry workshop, and art workshops, which included concrete art, terrarium art, terrazzo art and pottery art. They further joined workshops on auto mechanics and electricity.

In addition, the children were acquainted with adequate information on the topics of the workshops they attended, with a view to providing them with the most important information and skills necessary to enable them to acquire new and important skills and experiences.

Furthermore, members of the Arab Parliament for Child joined an open sports programme in which they practised a number of different sports and activities, such as football, swimming, volleyball and other games that received fun and interaction from the children.

Early this year, the Youth Council of Sharjah Economic Development Department (SEDD) organised a virtual discussion session in cooperation with Federal Youth Authority and Sharjah Foundation for Supporting Entrepreneurship (RUWAD).

The session was aimed at highlighting UAE’s role in developing the industrial, specifying basic needs to run industrial projects, discussing challenges facing the entrepreneur sector, and discussing solutions to encourage young people to join this vital sector. Also, it is meant to support the sustainability and growth of the activity of young entrepreneurs from the private sector establishments in the country and direct entrepreneurs to the industrial sector, which is the most important engine of the national economy.

The session was attended by Sultan Abdullah Bin Hadda Al Suwaidi, SEDD Chairman, and a number of the youth council’s members from the Department. Also, Maryam Nasir Al Suwaidi, Deputy Director of Industrial Affairs Department at SEDD, Fatima Al Ali, Director of Project Support and Financing Department at RUWAD Foundation, and a number of investors in the industrial sector and owners of existing industrial projects supported by the foundation.

Al Suwaidi said that Sharjah has succeeded in creating an appropriate and strong legislative and legal environment that supports the visions and plans of the industrial sector and can keep pace with the Fourth Industrial Revolution. He added that SEDD pays great attention to providing all means of support and motivation to companies and factories in the emirate, to effectively contribute to the development of performance and the sustainability of the industrial sector in the emirate.

He added that SEDD is working on a new plan of action with an ambitious centenary vision to contribute to making UAE the best country in the world by 2071. In addition, he pointed out that there is a significant increase in the total number of industrial licences reaching 13 percent during the past five years.

Likely, the session witnessed a great interaction in which the participants discussed a number of topics about the needs of entrepreneurs to start investing in the industrial sector. Furthermore, the panel discussion shed light on the challenges facing entrepreneurs in the industrial sector. The participants also discussed the role of the state in developing the industrial sector and the proposed solutions to encourage young people to enter the world of industry.
