The Oman Police in Batinah Governorate arrested four citizens for deliberately crossing a flooded valley in the Wadi Bani Ghafer area in the Wilayat of Rustaq, exposing them to danger.

The police said legal procedures are being completed against them to refer them to the judicial authorities.

The video went viral on social media showing the men deliberately driving into a flooded valley in an attempt to cross it.

The police said that four people said they were adventure seekers and that they wanted to experience the flood.

The video shows the SUV dramatically vanishing in the floods as the men frantically escape from the window.

They all made it to land. A police official said that men were not injured in the incident.

The authorities advised people to stay away from the areas witnessing surface run-offs and keep themselves in safe places.

The Royal Oman Police said, “It is urged to take caution and not to risk crossing wadies only after ensuring water levels receded.”

The Police also said that over the past two weeks it had carried out a medical evacuation for people from the valleys and floods.

Oman has been receiving rain incessantly over the past few days.

The weather experts have advised residents to avoid mountainous areas and valleys as rain may make roads and underpass difficult to use.
